Bright Farm is a 25 acre picturesque property on the Wollombi side of the beautiful Broke Valley, not far from the amazing Yellow Rock and only 20 minutes from the famous wine region of Pokolbin, in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales.
I purchased the property in 2014 with a long-term view to establishing a lifestyle destination, offering great wine, food (home-grown, prepared with love and fun) plus grape and wine education, as well as a place where friends old and new can experience the rural life with horses, dogs, chooks, sheep and the cheeky local wildlife.
The 4-acre 20 year old sangiovese vineyard is situated on a gentle west-facing slope of the Brokenback Range, with well-drained sandy loam soils. Sangiovese is a little temperamental in our climate so in 2015 I began diversifying the grape varieties with the addition of Tempranillo and Touriga.
100% Estate grown at Bright Farm.
Deliciously refreshing for those warm spring/summer days and nights, with just a little touch of fizz. Typical sangiovese varietal character of cranberries on the nose. Long tingly totally dry palate.
Team it up with just about anything seafoody, Mediterranean and/or snacky.
Very limited quantities of this warm, gutsy deliciouso red. Bouquet of violets and toasty oak. Long, rich palate with aniseed and chocolate flavour bombs. Not for the faint hearted yet still way too easy to drink.
BBQ, cheese, chilly nights...
This is the first tempranilo fruit from the Bright Farm vineyard, blended with some more tempranillo and shiraz from a mate's vineyard in Lovedale.
Totally yum off-dry sparkling pink moscato. This is NOT a sweet nothing. Seriously delicious with a nose of strawberries and Turkish delight. Semi-dry on the palate, long and zesty. More than just a bit of fun.
100% grown in Broke, tended by my loving hands.
